It was all thanks to Lebron James that Kendrick Lamar blessed the hip-hop world with the surprise project untitled unmastered. After having a listen of the material prior to the release, the Cleveland Cavaliers star pleaded with TDE's chief executive officer Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith in efforts to unveil the material to the masses. Lebron obviously got his wish. That just goes to show how tight knit rappers are in the realm of sports and not just with basketball players. Wrestlers, boxers, skaters and football players are also all besties with MCs, and the trend only seems to be broadening.

Drake is definitely one of the top contenders in this category. The Canadian rap star has many relationships with athletes even hosting the 2014 Espys. Not to mention, he's the Global Ambassador for the Toronto Raptors and partly responsible for breathing life into the once struggling franchise. The city was even the home of NBA All-Star 2016. There, Drake's custom Kobe Bryant jacket, which read "Forever Mamba," paying homage to the league legend, stole the show. As if that wasn't enough, Drake later gifted the jacket to Stephen Curry. “[Bryant] was kind enough to make me a jacket in collaboration with Jordan and OVO of course,” Drake said of the piece. “That was a great piece. I actually, funny enough, I gifted that jacket to Steph. Steph’s my guy. We’re family.”

Aside from Drizzy, check out other rappers who have strong ties with athletes.
