12 DPS Leaders Charged In $2.7 Million Fraud Scheme

The financially strapped Detroit Public School system got hit with more bad news this week, as 12 school leaders were charged with scamming more than $2 Million from vendors.

The DPS just got an emergency approval from Governor Snyder so that they could continue to pay the teachers beyond April. This bribery/fraud scandal will definitely make people think twice about pouring more money into the failing system.

The people charged in the fraud are listed below.

Ronald Alexander, principal of Spain Elementary
Beverly Campbell, a former principal at both Rosa Parks School and Greenfield Union Elementary-Middle School
Gerlma Johnson, former principal at Charles Drew Academy, former principal at Earhart Elementary-Middle School and current principal of Marquette-Elementary Middle School
James Hearn, principal at Marcus Garvey Academy
Tanya Bowman, former principal at Osborn Collegiate Academy of Math, Science and Technology
Josette Buendia, principal at Bennett Elementary School
Ronnie Sims, former principal at Fleming Elementary and Brenda Scott Middle School
Willye Pearsall, former principal at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School
Tia’ Von Moore-Patton, principal of Jerry White Center High School
Clara Smith,principal at Thirkell Elementary-Middle School
Nina Graves-Hicks,former principal of Davis Aerospace Technical High School

The top name on the list may seem familiar because of a huge story last year involving Ellen. She and Justin Bieber teamed up to donate $500,000 to Spain Elementary, and talked to Ronald Alexander about the donation.
