Gucci Mane is one of the most enigmatic figures in hip-hop.

Gucci, aka the Trap God, has certainly proven his status over his career which has spanned over a decade. As a cultural phenomenon from the 2000s with hits like the featured "Icy," "Lemonade" and "Wasted" Gucci's influence over the genre continued even while he was behind bars. Today's heavyhitters like Migos, Young Thug, Fetty Wap, OG Maco, Waka Flocka and Chief Keef are all products of Gucci's flow and style--as he so eloquently points out in his track, "All My Children."

But between the music, Gucci has also been the center of many controversies and run-ins with the law including a series of assault, drug and gun charges.

With the release of his first post-prison album Everybody Looking looming, and with pre-release buzz reaching a near-fever pitch, The Boombox is bringing you 20 Greatest Moments in Gucci Mane History.

Gucci Mane Collaborates With Jeezy for "Icy"

The two Atlanta rappers joined forces for the uber catchy track, "Icy" in 2005 to talk about the amount of expensive jewelry they were flossing. It was also one of Gucci's first mainstream hits. Of course, the good vibes between these two wouldn't last very long.

Gucci Mane Responds to Dem Franchize Boyz' "White Tee" with "Black Tee"

Dem Franchize Boyz had a smash hit with their ode to the "White Tee" but it was Gucci Mane who kicked off the spinoffs of the track with his "Black Tee." It was also followed by the hilarious (and infamous) "Pink Tee" crafted by Cam'Ron.

Gucci Mane and Jeezy Start Up Rap Beef

With every good, there's often controversy. After collaborating with Jeezy on "Icy" the two got into a long-standing feud on which album the track would land on. It ultimately ended up on Gucci Mane's debut album, Trap House, but the beef continued. But like many rap beefs, it gave us some dope lines. "Do I smell p----? Nah, that's Jeezy. You ain't a snowman, you more like a snowflake, cupcake, corn flake. N----, you too fake," rapped Gucci on "745."

Gucci Mane Drops Knowledge on Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club

Back in 2012, Gucci Mane dropped by The Breakfast Club to dish some insightful information including how he handles his music business. “I came in the game independent," he said. I always been getting 4 or 5 dollars out my CDs from day one."

Gucci Mane Becomes a Meme Legend

Memes seem like something new but tweeters were using their Photoshop fingers to edit Guwop in some funny photos back in 2013 when he went on a Twitter rant until his release from jail in 2016. Our favorite? A post-jail meme of Gucci looking into the distance in all-white. It reads: "When you go to jail as Gucci Mane and come out "Boyz 2 Mane'" Ha!

Gucci Mane Goes on Twitter Rant

Gucci Mane's Twitter rant is one of the books. He called out almost every major artist circa 2013; Drake, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled, T.I. and Tyga. But more importantly, he apologized afterwards citing his drug abuse (or should we say lean abuse?) as a reason for his lashing out.

    Gucci Drops "Lemonade"

Back before Beyonce released her second visual album, Lemonade, Gucci Mane had a single of the same name. Off of his mixtape, Trap Back, the song delves into his favorite color and all the different expensive things he can get it in. It also served as his pop-crossover hit.

"Wasted" was Gucci Mane's biggest song from his sixth studio album The State vs. Radric Davis. But it was the following remixes that really made this track great. Lil Wayne, Jadakiss, Birdman, OJ Da Juiceman, Soulja Boy and Ludacris are some of the rappers who've spit over the track.

Gucci Mane Continues to Release Music Behind Bars

Gucci Mane may not have been the best role model for behavior but his work ethic is something to be admired. While in jail, he released over two dozen mixtapes of previously unheard music. Our favorite is the track "Peepin" that appeared last year.

It nabbed a spot in the Top 20 of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts and featured rappers like Bun B, Killer Mike, Lil Scrappy and Goodie Mob's Khujo. (Not to mention it brought us the ultimate jam, "Booty Shorts.")

Gucci Mane Gets Released From Prison

Gucci Mane made it out of prison five months earlier than expected to the approval of his fans. But when he emerged from behind bars, he looked a lot different from the Guwop who went in. About 100 pounds lighter and seemingly at peace (he's eating kale and is sober for the first time in 17 years.) We're certainly happy for Gucci's triumphant return.
