21 Savage’s Lawyer Says Gun Found During Arrest Doesn’t Belong to Rapper

UPDATE: In a statement, Brian Steel, who operates as one of 21 Savage's attorneys, claims that the rapper was falsely accused.

"That was not his car and the gun retrieved is not his," he said. "No one will be falsely accusing my client. 21 Savage has done absolutely nothing wrong.”

Also speaking on the case was Alex Spiro, a person Jay-Z hired to help represent 21 during his struggle to be let loose from ICE custody. Spiro says that 21 was never arrested by the police.

"ICE has confirmed he was targeted for immigration enforcement and nothing more," Spiro said. "He was never arrested by the police, and some other individual’s firearm and vehicle is not our concern here.”

Earlier today (Feb. 7), TMZ reported that the car 21 Savage was driving at the time of his arrest on Sunday (Feb. 3) had a fully loaded Glock in it when they pulled him over. Now, the rapper's lawyer Brian Steel tells TMZ that neither the weapon nor the Dodge Challenger 21 was riding in belong to the rapper.

According to the update published earlier today (Feb. 7), 21's lawyer, Steel wouldn't provide further details as to whom the car or the gun belonged to. He did make it clear that

In the initial report, police said that 21 was "driving recklessly" and almost slammed into a cop car as he drove across a sidewalk to get onto another street. Then, police reportedly pulled the car over, and upon searching the vehicle, they reportedly found a Glock with an extended magazine inside the car's glove compartment. From there, 21 was taken away by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) shortly thereafter.

It remains unclear how and at what point the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) got involved with 21, as they weren't listed in the official police report documenting the entire indicent. According to the celebrity news site, the agencies listed were the DeKalb K-9 Unit, Vice Unit, Narcotics Unit, ATF, Georgia State Patrol and the DeKalb 90 Unit, but an ATF source assures TMZ that ICE was there as well.

In the meantime, 21 Savage remains in ICE custody in Georgia. Jay-Z has also provided the rapper with attorney Alex Spiro to assist with the case.
