Most assume that in hip-hop rappers leave their hometown romances in the past on the verge success. The classic line from Kanye West's 2005 hit "Gold Digger"— "When you get on, he'll leave your ass for a white girl"—pretty much sums of the common perception of rappers and their lovers before fame. While most rappers have strayed away from their former relationships during simpler times, there are quite a few rappers that are still holding on to their high school sweethearts.

Snoop Dogg has been married to his highschool sweetheart, Shante Broadus, for the past 19 years. The couple met before Snoop's record deal and even attended prom together before getting hitched in 1997. Fast forward to the present, and the couple is approaching two decades married and nearly 30 years as a couple.

Kendrick Lamar has a similar story. The Compton, Calif. rapper has been with his fiancée, Whitney Alford, for 10 years. The couple met in high school and got engaged in 2015.

While other rappers can't say the same for themselves, there have been quite a few rappers who broke things off but made their pre-fame partners known to the world. Big Sean dedicated an entire song to his ex "Ashley" and Drake's lyrics about his before-fame girl Jade on 2011's "Look What You've Done" has been sung by fans all over the world.
