Most people believe with rappers born in the rougher areas of the inner city or the ruthless corners of the dirty south, college is as far as possible from the mind on their daily conquest for survival. It leaves a notion that rappers don't go to college and furthering your education is not something important in the culture. That couldn't be further from the truth. There are several rappers out there that have college degrees and there will certainly be more down the line.

J. Cole for example, is one of today's hottest platinum-selling rappers but prior to making it big, he was a student at St. John's University in New York. He actually recorded his first mixtape, The Come Up Vol. 1, while still attending the school. As publicized on his second mixtape, 2009s The Warm Up, the rapper graduated summa cum laude with a 3.82 GPA. He received a communications degree and minored in business. Unfortunately, even with the stellar grades, the rapper didn't receive his actual diploma upon graduation for failing to return a library book. In 2015 however, the rapper had a show at the University and a few of his former professors surprised him with the certificate. “Tonight, I guess they let me slide," Cole told The Village Voice with plans to send the degree to his mom.

Although the other stories out there aren't as intriguing Cole's, a bunch of other rappers have also graduated from college. Check out the gallery above to find out who.
