The 2013 MTV Movie Awards winners, though by no means as hyped as, say, the 2013 Oscars, are a fun affair nonetheless. Most of the awards, with exceptions to the "specialty" categories, are voted on by the fans, which means many of the titles that got snubbed during awards season now have another chance for the recognition many believe they deserve.
As the world knows already, character actor Frank Grillo was recently cast as the villainous Crossbones in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' These days, when you're lucky enough to find yourself in a Marvel movie, it seems as though you're gearing up not just for one flick, but for two or three. (Unless you're Hugo Weaving.) So does that indicate that Grillo's Crossbones will be making an appearance in a certain mega-gigantic-super-sequel that is scheduled for a May 1, 2015 release?
The majority of good TV may have been postponed for the night on account of that dastardly hurricane everyone keeps talking about, but hopefully the matter will be swept under the rug by Wednesday night for an all-new 'South Park!' Last week brilliantly channeled 'The Shining' as Stan endured "A Nightmare On Facetime," but what will the latest outing bring? How will Matt and Trey tackle the Lance Armstrong issue in "A Scause For Applause?"
'The Dark Knight Rises' hit theaters this past summer to high box office numbers and continued to "rise" in popularity as word spread about Christopher Nolan's last film in the 'Dark Knight' trilogy. Every movie wants to get in on the post-credits bandwagon, the most recent one being 'The Avengers'' sneak peek at Thanos, but apparently 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' is trying to join in. Certainly a surprising film to feature a stinger, most would probably agree, but it's been such a fan-driven series that it has to be considered something of a parting gift to the folks who made it so huge.
Samuel L. Jackson is by far one of our favorite tweeters, thanks to Jimmy Fallon who taught the celeb how to use the social media site. For one, he made the 2012 Olympics that much more entertaining with statements like, “Did that Russian just do the ‘whoa Gurl Whut wuz in That Drank, dat Sh*t wuz Skrong’ Vault landing?!” However, his most recent sentiments regarding Hurricane Isaac threw people into a bit of a tizzy.
A lot of movies came out in the Summer of 2012. Some were good and some were…not so good. But one thing’s for sure: they made a lot of money. We took a look back at some of the biggest movies of the Summer of 2012 to see what worked and what didn’t. Some films won’t surprise you – you mean ‘The Avengers‘ was a big hit?… – but others – people still go see those ‘Ice Age’ movies?! – will.
Dark Knight Rises turned out to be a success at the box office despite the tragic shooting in Colorado. Our prayers and thoughts should continually be towards those families affected by the senseless crime. The tragedy didn't stop people from showing to watch the highly anticipated film
