Allen Iverson is set to announce his retirement from the NBA officially.

Allen Iverson will announce his retirement in the “coming days,” according to Slam. Iverson has not appeared in the NBA since the 2009-10 season, playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers. He also played in Turkey in 2011.

In 14 NBA seasons, Iverson appeared in 11 All-Star Games. He was the 1996-97 Rookie of the Year. He was the 2000-01 NBA MVP. Iverson led the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA Finals in 2001 where the Lakers won the series, 4-1.

This is a guy who at one point was one of the highest paid athletes in the world, earning more than $20 million per season in salary alone. He is now bankrupt with over a million dollars worth of debt.

Lets just hope he put some of that money into a good retirement fund, ok lets be honest he better hope for a sports analyst gig.
