Anyone who's been alive during any holiday season since 1984 has heard British duo Wham!'s teary-eyed 'Last Christmas.' Ariana Grande decided to give the song a fresh, more effervescent take for 2013.

Grande substitutes Wham!'s melancholy for a little more optimism; she isn't as stuck on last Christmas as her predecessor. The twinkling keys and unmistakably '80s synths are replaced by flirtatious guitar strums, programmed drums and upbeat strings. In other words, Grande's version actually sounds like it has the holiday spirit unlike Wham!'s version, which is a bit of a Debbie Downer.

We'd imagine the songstress is going to have a ball this Christmas after the success of her debut album, 'Yours Truly,' which debuted at No. 1 and featured the Top 10 hit 'The Way' with Mac Miller. She recently released the video to 'Right There' featuring Big Sean.

The 20-year-old entertainer plans on releasing a Christmas carol every week until Christmas Day.
