After watching Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu do the #HotCarChallenge I decided to see how long I could last in a hot car. Tyrann's video inspired me to attempt the challenge and raise awareness on people leaving their children and pets inside their car.

Here's a statistic from the National Highway Traffic Administration

"Even outside temperatures in the 60s can cause a car temperature to rise well above 110° F. When the outside temperature is 83° F, even with the window rolled down 2 inches, the temperature inside the car can reach 109° F in only 15 minutes."

I've never had to sit inside a hot car with the windows are rolled up because my parents knew better and always brought me inside when they ran their errands. I wanted to do this challenge to see how hot it really does get inside of a parked car with the windows rolled up. I'm not going to lie to you and say this was easy, because it wasn't. It sucked. After 5 minutes of being inside a hot car I was ready to get out. 10 minutes and I felt like I was going to pass out. Just after 14 minutes my iPhone went into "Hot Temperature" mode and wouldn't record any more video until I brought it inside. After 14 minutes the temperature inside reached 106 degrees and I started to feel like I could pass out. I'm actually thankful that my phone went into "Hey Idiot It's Too Hot To Operate Me" mode because I don't think I could of lasted 5 more minutes.

I didn't want to make this video to show off, because truthfully if you watch the video after 5 minutes I start whining about how hot it is. I wanted to make the video so hopefully one person will watch this and think twice before leaving their kids or pets in the car. Even 5 minutes into the video it was unbearable. Please take your kids inside the store.  Please either leave the AC on in your car or leave your pets inside your house. This really was an experience I wouldn't want to do again.
