Enter to Win a Darth Vader and R2-Q5 Figure Set
Ever wanted your own personal Sith Lord to do thy bidding? Need an astromech droid to record your day-to-day dalliances for the Galactic Empire? Both of those things can be hard to track down, but lucky for you, we just so happen to be giving those exact things away.
That's right, you can take home your very own R2-Q5 Imperial Astromech Droid and Return of the Jedi Darth Vader sixth-scale figures just because we like you. Sure this Darth Vader won't actually be able to Force Choke anyone that's giving you the business, but you can pretend he is. That's close enough, right?
Sideshow Collectibles Returns With Another Great Darth Vader Figure [Review]
Sideshow Collectibles has long been providing the collecting world with sixth-scale figures based on Star Wars. In fact, until Hot Toys jumped on the bandwagon ahead of The Force Awakens, Sideshow was pretty much the only place you could find high-end figures based on George Lucas’ creation. Still, in all that time, there haven’t been a tremendous amount of these figures released, with Sideshow carefully curating its collection with some unexpected choices.
Of course, you can’t have the Star Wars license without putting your own spin on the Sith Lord Darth Vader. As one of the most recognizable entities from the saga, Vader is a prime choice for an action figure. In fact, he’s such a marquee character, it’s the second time Sideshow’s released a figure for him. However, there are plenty of improvements with this revamped edition of Sideshow’s previous Return of the Jedi Darth Vader to make it more than a simple repeat viewing.
You Won’t Believe How Easily Soundwave Transforms Into a Tablet [Review]
Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro revealed a new Soundwave figure that transformed into a tablet instead of the more familiar cassette player. Not one to traditionally scoff at the idea of modernizing characters from the '80s that had clearly become outdated, I balked at the idea that a Transformer toy could possibly be a tablet. It's not that a Cybertronian citizen couldn't become whatever it wanted to; it's just that a tablet is so thin it would be virtually impossible to get any form or function out of a toy that tried to mimic such minimal proportions.
Boy was I wrong.
Collect Star Wars History With Topps’ Upcoming ‘Galactic Files Reborn’ Series
Four years ago, Topps released its Star Wars Galactic Files trading cards --- a massive 350-card set that documented the entire history of Star Wars character, vehicles, moments and more from across the first 35 years of the franchise. In addition to providing some insight into all those aspects, the cards also featured stats for each character, much like the old Marvel Universe cards. It was a fun way to look back at these characters and see how they truly ranked, with characters like Luke getting better stats as the films progressed.
Next year, the Galactic Files will be "reborn" as a new set, adding in The Force Awakens, as well as the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. Now we'll finally know just how powerful characters like Rey, Kylo Ren and Kanan are compared to the rest of the Force-sensitive heroes and villains from the saga.
Dagobah and Still I Wait For Yoda, and Now Hot Toys Has Delivered Him
Thirty-nine years ago, Star Wars hit movie theaters. The world hasn't been the same ever since. That's particularly true when considering the toy industry, which owes quite a bit to the legacy of Lucasfilm's epic. While Hot Toys' latest Star Wars sixth-scale figure comes from the 1980 sequel, The Empire Strikes Back, that doesn't mean its arrival has any less impact. As the wisest Jedi from the original trilogy, Yoda has a special place in many fans' hearts. He's had a number of toys over the past few decades, but none quite so detailed and intricate as this latest collectible from the Hong Kong company.
‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Visual Story Guide Preview is Full of Rebel Secrets
While not quite as dramatic as the stolen plans to the original Death Star, a 10-page preview of the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: Official Visual Story Guide was uncovered this week. After dropping the first teaser trailer on us last month, it's been all quiet on the Outer Rim front for Rogue One. That's not all that surprising given that Star Wars Celebration 2016 is just a hair under two months away, and Lucasfilm and Disney are likely loading up all the big reveals for the self-titled convention. As the internet has shown over the past few years however, you can't keep Star Wars secrets locked up for long.
The Rogue One story guide preview was just a small sampling in the Macmillan Winter 2016 preview catalog, uncovered by Slash Film. Though the film isn't due out for months, this preview gives us the bit of an idea of what to expect from Gareth Edwards' anthology film, which is the first of many planned spin-offs set in the Star Wars universe.
This is your warning to avoid reading any further should you not want even the slightest details about Rogue One spoiled.
Where’s Rey? On Star Wars Day She’ll Be at Kmart
Last year, Hasbro released an exclusive figure through Kmart featuring Kylo Ren in a snow-dusted cloak and standing in a icy base. We'd seen the scene a number of times in the trailers, and it made for a moderately interesting variant of the standard Black Series Kylo. Still, that was released last winter, and we were all left wondering if we'd ever see the second half of the planned set. At the time, many presumed the follow-up figure would be Finn from that same wintery scene. Oh how foolish we all were to believe a trailer would show us the entire movie and spoil one of the greatest moments in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
On May 4, aka Star Wars Day, the diorama will finally be complete when Starkiller Base Rey arrives.
