Rod Prahin
Growing up on a farm in the Thumb, I truly was the geeky kid who listened to AM radio all night while I should have been sleeping. I knew then I wanted to be "that voice coming out of the speakers". My Dad told me as a child that my gift of gab would either get me in trouble or make me a living, true story! My first job was calling high school football at my hometown radio station, my love for radio was cemented and it didn't hurt that I was now the most popular kid in school, I was hooked! I have worked in over 25 cities including Detroit, San Francisco, San Jose, Dallas, Nashville and Birmingham, I wouldn't describe all of my jobs as great but they were all very interesting. Coming home to Flint and being here for over 20 years has been the most rewarding part and fun of my career. The people I have met have been the most gracious, generous, hard-working and loyal people I have known in my travels. Some things I can't live without are my wife, Anne, my kids, Josh, Megan and Mindy, my dogs, Sam, Moses and Claire, my old car hobby and an occasional "adult beverage", not necessarily in that order on any given day! Some things you may not know about me are that I love to cook and grocery shop, I enjoy watching old movies and documentaries about World War 2, I often spend time taking a drive to just explore and I have always wanted to learn to fly a plane. Lastly, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day each morning for the last 20 years, my favorite quote, "100 years from now... all new people, so relax".
