Early this morning (Thursday, December 15th, 2011) a ceremony called "Casing the Colors" was held in Iraq as the official ending to the nine-year mission. Yesterday at Fort Bragg, President Obama announced that all troops will be leaving Iraq.
Virginia Tech is under lock down again today after an officer was shot on campus, reports ABC News. All students and staff were told to stay inside and lock the doors. Police believe the shooting occurred after a traffic stop.
Icy roads gave Detroit Tiger's third baseman a bit of a scare this morning -- according to the Detroit Free Press, Inge was involved in a six-car pile up just west of Ann Arbor, Mich. -- no one was injured.

The Northern Lights -- also know as, aurora borealis -- made a rare appearance last night (October 24th,) reaching as far south as Georgia. The reason the lights made their appearance so far south was due to the solar wind that reached much farther south than usual.
There were reported sightings coming in from Kentucky, Georgia, Indiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas as well as other places.
