Baltimore Gang Member Explain Their Truce, Deny Harming Police [Video]

There are plenty of rumors about the different gangs of Baltimore uniting after the death of Freddie Gray, and they got their chance to clear things up last night.

The main rumor was that the gangs united to take out the police in Baltimore, but they deny that saying,

We are not about to allow y’all to paint this picture of us. We got soldiers out here, we’re dirty. They threw bombs at us for trying to stop what’s going on right now. We’re trying to get justice for Freddie Gray.

They also talked about the way that the media is covering the riots

It makes us look bad. It’s backing up what they saying about us; they saying we’re animals, savages.

One of the members went on to explain that just because they are in a gang, does not mean they are trying to act violent.  In fact, they are trying to help the community they live in.

Most of us, as us older people, we bring everybody closer, make sure they got jobs, go to school on time. They just make it seem like, he’s black, he got a flag on, he’s got to be doing the wrong thing

The video from WBAL shows a different side to the story, and now that the worst of the violence is over, the gang members will have a chance to back up their words.
