Beecher Students and Staff Report to the Classroom Two Weeks Early
Today is the first day of class for students and staff in the Beecher School District which is actually two weeks early compared to other districts in the county. If you haven’t heard, Beecher Community Schools has started the first year round school year in our area and I think it’s great.
The decision to go year round was the results of the desire to improve students academic performance. The Superintendent of the Beecher says studies has shown “…student’s level of learning decreases after spending more than six to seven weeks outside of the classroom,” according to MLive.
I think other districts should follow suit but that is easy for me to say without knowing all the information.
No one ever in the world wanted school to start early but we all wanted to show up to school in our new clothes and sneakers. I remember ironing my clothes the night before, packing my lunch, packing my backpack with new supplies, and being overly excited for school. Looking back, I was mad missing the mark in fashion and everything else.
I want to hear from you, what were some of the things you did to prepare for the first day of school? Leave your response in the comment section below.
