Belly takes a stand. Today (July 2), the Canadian rapper unveils his "Immigrant" T-shirt as a means to protest the controversial, government-sanctioned separation of families who've crossed the U.S. border illegally in search of asylum. The new tee is a specialized shirt with the word, "immigrant," scrawled across it.

The rapper was inspired Families Belong Together protests and his own background as an immigrant. Belly once spoke about the plight of immigrants on his Mumble Rap song, "Immigration to the Trap."

“As an immigrant myself I feel as though iImmigrantion is a topic that needs my support and yours as well with so much happening," reveals The Weeknd affiliate who emigrated from a Palestinian city to Ottowa, Canada when he was a child. "It’s our job as public figures and more importantly as humans to bring attention to these causes. With your help we can create a platform and bring awareness to help immigrants thrive and know they can succeed too."

In addition to releasing these shirts, Belly gave out 200 of the tees to people who protested the controversial family separations at New York City's Foley Square this past Saturday (June 30). The shirt "Immigrant" T-shirt can be purchased for $28 on the XO rapper's official merch site and 100 percent of the profits will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is currently working on supporting immigrants through litigation and various forms of advocacy. Profits will also reach the hands of International Rescue Committee (IRC), an organization that helps refugee families across the world.

Belly issued his call to buy the shirts and support the movement in an Instagram video, which you can see for yourself below.
