Beyonce is supporting gay marriage through a handwritten note that she shared on her Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages Wednesday morning (March 27).

“If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it,” she wrote, which is a line from her No. 1 R&B hit 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).' Beyonce closed the note with "# we will unite 4 marriage equality!”

Also on her Instagram page, Queen Bey posted an image of the Human Rights Campaign's red equal sign logo with the message, "It's about time #equality #prop8 #marriageislove . . . show your support!"

The two messages come as the Supreme Court is hearing testimony about the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s controversial Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage in the state.

Beyonce's social media-driven message was applauded by both fans and celebrities alike. Pop icon Madonna also expressed her support of gay marriage on her Facebook page. "Marriage equality, let's start a revolution," she wrote.

The 'I Been On' songstress and her hubby Jay-Z have been outspoken advocates for gay rights and praised President Obama for endorsing same-sex marriage. In an interview with CNN, Hov felt that banning gay marriage was discriminatory. "I've always thought it as something that was still holding the country back," he said. "What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination, plain and simple."
