BlocBoy JB's name is starting to ring bells thanks to buzzing tracks like "Shoot," and more recently, "Look Alive" featuring Drake and "Rover 2.0" featuring 21 Savage. Now, with all eyes on him, it's the perfect time to drop a new project. And he has one on deck.

On Monday (April 30), the Memphis, Tenn. rapper revealed the cover art and release date for his new mixtape Simi. The project is dropping on short notice as the rapper announced, "MIXTAPE OTW FRIDAY MAY 4TH!!!" The cover for the tape shows the rapper sitting on top of a roof as the title is displayed in clouds above his head. It has a bit of a 2014 Forest Hills Drive feel to it.

Back in March, JB revealed plans to put the project out in April. “Only thing you can expect is to see me. It’s coming soon, real soon," he said during an interview at 2018 SXSW. "I don’t know what I want to call it. It’s a project. It’s the best one, I think, so far."

XXL spoke with the bubbling rapper for The Break in February where he talked about his plans for his career. "I just wanna kill it and take it to the next level," he said. "I wanna be in movies—I can do some good acting. I'ma shoot my own movie so I can let them know how good I can act. It's gonna be like a street version of Set It Off. Instead of robbing banks, we gonna be hittin' licks. It's gonna be crazy."
