The number of breast reduction surgeries in America is going through a dramatic increase, and the surprising patients are teenagers.

The surgery has become more common because America's breasts are getting bigger. The size increase is leading to painful back problems, among other health issues.  So how many people are actually reducing the size of their breasts?

There were more than 63,000 breast reduction surgeries in America in 2011. The average national breast size has grown dramatically over the past decade. According to Women's Wear Daily, the median breast size in America jumped from a 36C in 2000 to a 36DD in 2010.

Since the surgery is considered reconstructive, most health insurers cover the $15,000 surgery.
