Singer-Songwriter Bruno Mars has been tapped to perform during halftime of the 2014 Super Bowl in February. A source told the Associated Press that an official announcement is expected Sunday (Sept. 8) during an event in New York's Times Square.

Super Bowl XLVIII will take place Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The annual football contest draws in over 100 million viewers in the United States alone.

It's a no-brainer why the NFL picked Mars to perform at the Super Bowl. The 27-year-old crooner is an incredible live performer who just finished entertaining U.S. audiences on his Moonshine Jungle world tour. Furthermore, he has a string of chart-topping hits including, 'Locked Out of Heaven' and 'Gorilla' from his latest album, 'Unorthodox Jukebox.'

Mars follows behind Beyonce who rocked this year's Super Bowl with a spectacular concert, which also featured a Destiny's Child reunion.

There's no word if there will be any special guests joining Bruno Mars during his halftime show.
