Call Bruce Willis! An Asteroid Is Headed Toward Earth On February 15th [Video]
On Friday, February 15th an asteroid half the size of a football field will fly closer to the earth than the satellites that tell you when to turn left do! Should we all hit the panic button right now?
Don't start digging that bunker in your back yard today, because it looks like despite coming very close, the asteroid has very little chance to hit the Earth. NASA officially says:
Asteroid 2012 DA 14, which is 150 feet in diameter, was discovered about a year ago, and will zoom by our planet about 17,200 miles above the Indian Ocean — or closer than most weather and communications satellites.
The bad news is that when the asteroid comes back around in 2110, the chances of it hitting earth are dramatically increased. We have been hit by a rock this big before, and the damage it caused is insane. Check out the video below to see some pictures of the 'Tunguska Event' in 1908.
