An Ugly History of Rob Schneider’s Racist and Stereotyped Characters

It’s not even Inauguration Day yet and white dudes are already ruining everything. On Monday, Rob Schneider, you know, the guy from all the Adam Sandler movies, decided he would be the ideal person to explain Martin Luther King Jr.’s Civil Rights achievements to a legendary Civil Rights hero. Oh, and to make it even worse, this happened on MLK day.

Zoe Kravitz Is Very Excited About Her Expanded Role in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sequel

Zoe Kravitz was one of the surprise additions to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them cast, and even more surprising when it was revealed in the movie that she plays Newt Scamander’s former love interest Leta Lestrange. She’s not in that movie for very long (not much more than a shot), but she’ll have a much bigger role in the sequels as the relationship between her and Newt is explored further.

‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ TV Spot: Batman Has Met His Match

Will Arnett’s Batman was by far the hilarious standout of The LEGO Movie, and we’re a little less than a month away from seeing his solo movie take off. But it seems another character might be stealing the show from Batman this time: Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, is featured in a new TV spot for The LEGO Batman Movie that shows the Dark Knight might have met his match.

The Onion’s Three-Movie Development Deal Is No Joke

Now that falsehoods have become almost entirely indistinguishable from fact in the American news media, the staffers of satirical publication The Onion can sit back and relax, having effectively taken over the industry they set out to spoof. (Full disclosure: I contribute to the A.V. Club, a division of the Onion media empire.) But instead of resting on their laurels, the originators of ‘fake news’ have set out to conquer new frontiers, having already moved into publishing and the untamed wilds of television. A new exclusive from the Hollywood Reporter indicates that not even the movie theaters of this great nation will be safe from the increasingly plausible absurdities of America’s self-proclaimed ‘finest news source.’

Watch Chewbacca ‘Disarm’ an Enemy in This ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Deleted Scene

While Star Wars: The Force Awakens was an international smash hit, it wasn’t devoid of criticism. Some people felt that the film veered a little close to the storyline of the original Star Wars film; others felt that the family friendly action didn’t quite line up with the darker tone they expected from movies like The Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of the Sith. So to those fans, I offer you the above deleted scene (via i09) where Chewbacca rips out the arm of Unkar Plutt. It may be another throwback to the original movies, but at least it’s one with a little bit of bite.

‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Releases Star-Studded Official Tracklist For Your Inner Goddess to Dance Along With

Say what you will about Fifty Shades of Grey, that movie had some veritable bangers on its soundtrack: from The Weeknd’s “Earned It” to Beyonce’s sultry “Crazy in Love” cover, that movie’s tracklist practically outdid the movie itself. If only the Fifty Shades series was a trilogy of jukebox musicals featuring all of today’s Top 40 hits. Alas. Today, the Fifty Shades Darker official soundtrack was released, and it has even more big names listed on it than the first.

Thinking About the Officially Happening ‘Slender Man’ Movie Only Makes It More Powerful

We’ve seen an odd spike recently in the entertainment industry’s mining of popular online creepypastas — strange, scary stories shared on sites like Reddit where young people congregate to try to frighten each other out of their wits. Syfy’s show Channel Zero is currently running its first season based on the popular creepypasta Candle Cove, which features, among other things, a monster made entirely from human teeth. Slender Man is probably the most popular of these stories: it’s gotten a video game, an HBO documentary series, and now a movie, which will be directed by Sylvain White.

Check Out the New ‘Beauty and the Beast’ TV Spots, Go Ahead, Be Our Guest

Despite volumes of scholarship from feminist theorists on its undertones of spousal abuse and insidious romanticizing of male brutality, Disney‘s Beauty and the Beast has remained a cherished childhood favorite worldwide. Kids love talking furniture, go figure. The live-action remake starring Emma Watson and an unrecognizable Dan Stevens is hot on the way to its March 17 release, and Disney has now released two new TV spots to further amp up the anticipation. In the first, embedded above, the Beast implores lovely Belle to “think of the one thing you’ve always wanted, and feel it in your heart.” We get a glimpse of the timeless ballroom-waltz scene, some barroom carousing from Gaston, and yet another look at the deeply unsettling character designs for Lumiere and Cogsworth.
