On "Finish Line" off May's Coloring Book, Chance The Rapper airs out some of his frustrations with the music industry, rapping, "I've been getting blocked just trying to make songs with friends / Labels told me to my face that they own my friends." For Chance, the music is first and foremost, and that is perhaps never clearer than in the above video with Billboard in which the Chicago rapper visits Reckless Records and gifts CDs and vinyl to passersby.

Throughout the three minute clip, Chance shows off his diverse taste, handing out such albums as Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), The Diary of Alicia Keys and Music from the Broadway play Cats. He as well sings the praises of John Legend, Ariana Grande, FKA Twigs, Mick Jenkins, Lenny Kravitz and more. The video as well sheds some insight on Chance's record store sweeping techniques, as he notes walking through the front to announce ones arrival.

In recent months, Chance has devised entirely new ways to get music to fans, which is precisely what landed him on Billboard's "New Pioneers" cover. From freestyling on Twitter, starting viral trends, to debuting music at award shows and through commercials, Chance has seized control of not only the music he's making but the means in which it is released. In personally selecting and then gifting music as he does above, Chano further closes the gap between himself and his fans, and the joy he clearly receives from the process speaks volumes.
