MLB is bringing the first ever 'Players Weekend' August 25th through the 27th, and the Tigers have their nickname jerseys all set.

The players get to pick a nickname to go on the back of their jerseys that they'll wear during the games over the weekend.

This is fun for the players and fans, but it is also going to help a great cause.  After the weekend is over, the jerseys will be auctioned off.  All of the proceeds will go toward the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation. If you were interested in buying one of the game worn jerseys, you can get in on the auction here.  You can also just buy a replica jersey here.

Some of the nicknames are obvious, like 'Miggy' or 'JV'.  Some are a little more obscure though, like 'Bootsie'.  Ian Kinsler picked up that name when he played for Texas, and had to wear a protective boot over his injured foot.

The Tigers already have one of the best uniforms in baseball, but switching things up every once in a while is never a bad thing.
