As previously announced, Common and J.Cole will be host a free concert in Sacramento to advocate for criminal justice reform on Aug. 21.

The Imagine Justice concert will also feature appearances from Van Jones, Goapele, Los Rakas, Syncopated Ladies and more. While the free concert has already sold out, if you managed to snag tickets, you're strongly encouraged to arrive on time, as the event will take place on a first-come basis.

Of course, Common and J. Cole have both long been vocal in the movement for criminal justice reform. Both of their most recent albums, Black America Again and 4 Your Eyez Only touch explicitly on the ills of mass incarceration. Earlier this month, J. Cole spent a day visiting inmates serving life sentences at San Quinton, and has been performing on his most recent tour wearing an orange jumpsuit.

"As an artist, I believe it is my duty to fight injustice wherever it appears and take a stand for my fellow brothers and sisters," Common said in a statement. "I believe it is my responsibility to use my platform to amplify the courageous voices of the movement and support the most marginalized members of our society."

Imagine Justice is supported by the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, which provides support for formerly incarcerated young people and advocates for justice reform. Doors open at 4 p.m. Visit the site for more info.
