Every year approximately one million people commit suicide. That is equal to one death every 40 seconds. 3,000 people per day. Thanks to this cop though one man is alive and safe.

Until you suffer from depression or suicidal thoughts you'll never truly understand what someone is going through. You never really know what is going on in someones head.

This man on the bridge wanted to end it all and jump to his death, but this cop wasn't going to let that happen. What started as asking about family or if the man had a job turned into a talk about football.

The cop began to talk about the upcoming football schedule which led to the suicidal man being gently led away from the bridge.

Being a police officer is a tough job. It's a job that's getting tougher and tougher, and without turning this into a political back and forth battle just know this, not every officer you meet or have an encounter with is a bad cop.
