Move over, Shaq: Damian Lillard A.K.A. Dame D.O.L.L.A. is the best NBA player/rapper ever. Yesterday (Oct. 11), the Trailblazers point guard shared a new song with Raphael Saadiq called "Hero."

Oakland native Lillard spits thoughtful, wordplay-filled bars throughout the nearly four-minute track. The soulful record is a part of adidas' #SongsFromScratch series. D.O.L.L.A. spreads a positive message on "Hero," kicking off his first verse by rapping, "I wanna see us all rise above that poverty line/Teach 'em how to cross the Ts, put a dot on them Is/Lot of folks fell victim high, lot of 'em die/Swallow pride to survive." Fellow Bay Area musician Saadiq handles the chorus, singing, "Everybody needs a hero."

You can listen to "Hero" above via SoundCloud. Pretty crazy that an NBA All-Star is rapping better than a lot of aspiring artists out there. In other Lillard news, adidas recently unveiled his new D Lillard 2 colorway. The adidas D Lillard 2 “Dame Time” is set is available at select adidas retailers and at adidas.com for a retail price of $105.

If you like the "Dame Time" colorway, you should also check out the D Lillard 2 Shark Black edition. It features a full tonal black treatment with hits of red and oak print detailing on the lack lock, heel counter, outsole and BOUNCE midsole with unique chain stitch embroidery along the silhouette’s upper.

In case you missed it, check out Dame's #SoFarGone challenge. This musical challenge called for participants to freestyle over the beat to Monica’s 2003 R&B hit “So Gone.” The challenge began in August, and and like any good social media trend, the news spread like wildfire and got picked up by some of your favorite rappers.
