De La Soul Releasing Mixtape Produced by DJ Premier and Pete Rock

The legendary hip-hop group De La Soul have truly been on their mixtape grind. This year, the veteran rap trio released the Dilla-produced mixtape called 'Smell The D.A.I.S.Y..'

Next up, De La Soul will be delivering a new mixtape fully produced by DJ Premier and Pete Rock. Appropriately titled "Premium Soul On The Rocks,' there's no information on the overall theme or release date of the project.

"Right now we're just accumulating beats," Dave, formerly known as Trugoy The Dove, told XXL Mag. "[Primo and Pete Rock] have been sending us beats. No real idea of what the theme is gonna be [or] the theme behind the title, what that's gonna be. If it's gonna be skits, if it's gonna be songs, remakes, whatever it is. Right now we've just been accumulating beats and waiting for Premier to handle some stuff as well."

Additionally, De La is now working on their eighth studio album titled 'You're Welcome,' and Dave says they're using live instrumentation, but sampling it.

"We've got musicians coming together and working on some music, actually just playing music for hours, and we're sampling off what the musicians are playing," he explained. "They're just like endlessly playing for hours upon hours, and we're just sampling from it, so it's kinda cool."

Right now the group is on tour in the United Kingdom.
