Deaths from traffic accidents around April 15, Tax Day, rose 6 percent on average on each of the last 30 years of tax filing days compared with a day during the week prior and a week later.

The weird part is that according to the Bloomberg study, the ability to file electronically hasn't changed the trend at all.

The researchers suggest stress, lack of sleep, alcohol use and less tolerance to other drivers on tax deadline day may contribute to an increase in deaths on the road.

In my life, I have never waited till the last day to file taxes.  I have no idea why people do, but there are still millions of people who wait till the last minute.
