'Safe House' is set to be one of the best action thrillers of the year, and credit that to the dedication shown by Denzel Washington.

In an interview he told the New York Magazine that he was waterboarded to see what it was actually like.

He and co-star Ryan Reynolds talked about the intensity of it.

"It's strange. You can't breathe in, because the water comes in, and it's filling up your mouth. And that was just one time for a short time.  Imagine having that done for 20, 30 seconds? You will give up the answers! You may not necessarily tell the truth, but you will tell (your captors) whatever they want to hear."

The movies director says that Denzel was bent on doing the scene himself.  Ryan Reynolds talked about how hard it was for him to watch, even in character.

"He went all out for this movie. I would definitely not like to be waterboarded. It was intense. Disturbing."I had sympathetic pain. I always get sympathetic pain. I wish I didn't. I felt like I was drowning."

Club 93.7 is showing the movie tonight at Clio Square Cinema for the 'Dinner 4 A Movie' fundraiser.  Click HERE to find out how you can get in free, and help feed hungry people in our area.
