The Detroit Lions have announced that they will join the majority of NFL teams with cheerleaders on the sidelines this season.

The Lions had been one of only 7 teams in the NFL without cheerleaders until this year.  The six teams left are the Bears, Giants, Packers, Browns and Steelers.

The Lions president, Rod Wood, talked about the addition saying,

After thorough consideration and receiving input from our fans through season ticket member surveys and focus groups, we believe that this is an opportunity to elevate our game day entertainment.”

Auditions will be held on June 25th, and there is a $25 registration fee for anyone who wants to try out.  For more information about the Lions Cheerleaders, check out their official site here.
