It’s official! Diddy‘s eldest son, Justin Combs, will attend UCLA in southern California next fall under a football scholarship. The 17-year-old Combs is a star defensive back at New Rochelle Iona Prep in New York. He will most likely play cornerback when he hits the field in the Bruins’ true blue and gold-colored uniform.

“Playing Division I football was a lifelong dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it,” said Combs in a statement (via Los Angeles Times). He was offered scholarships from top-tier Division-I schools such as Illinois, Virginia, Iowa and Wyoming.

Diddy is especially proud of his son’s athletic aspirations. “As a parent, this is one of the proudest moments of my life,” he stated. “This is everything a father could want in his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do.”

Justin Combs’ announcement comes a day after the Bruins fired their head coach Rick Neuheisel after four seasons. According to the Daily Bruin, Athletic Director Dan Guerrero cited a 25 percent drop in attendance and a lack of improvement with the football team’s overall performance on the field as reasons for Neuheisel’s termination.

Hopefully, Justin Combs will be that spark the Bruins need to help them win more games next season. If he’s anything like his father, then Justin is a competitor and he wants to win. We wish him the best on his collegiate endeavors.
