"May the force be with you."

Donald Glover is playing a young Lando Calrissian, the smuggler, gambler, and card player, in the upcoming as-yet-untitled Han Solo movie. Tuesday (Feb. 21) morning, Disney released the first photo of the cast of the upcoming spinoff film. The movie is set before the events in Star Wars: A New Hope, and will explore the adventures of a young Han Solo and Chewbacca

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Glover was asked how he felt about playing Lando Calrissian. "It was the first action figure I ever had. I remember my dad giving it to me," he said. "I remember Lando really well. He was like the only black guy in space. And he was the cool one. I just realized, he still has to be cool. And cool is an interesting thing."

The film was written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan. The cast includes Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Woody Harrelson (Han Solo's mentor), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Emilia Clark, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Thandie Newton.

In another Glover news, the actor/rapper has been tapped to star as Simba in the upcoming remake of The Lion King. Director Jon Favreau gushed about Glover in a recent interview.

The director has been admiring Glover from afar, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “By the way, full disclosure: I see your face every day when I wake up my 15-year-old son because on his door is a portrait of you,” he told Glover during an “Epic Conversation” for the publication. “It’s just you looking very handsome, staring at me as I’m waking my son up He knows you through your music. I came up in the improv community, so I know you more through that. And we’re both a little bit nerdy and into comics and stuff.”

The Han Solo film will hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
