Downtown Flint First Merit Bank Location Will Lay Off 135 Employees [Video]

It hasn't been a full year since First Merit Bank took over the Citizens Bank in downtown Flint, and already the word of layoffs from First Merit has hit the streets.

First Merit filed with state officials to tell them about the pending layoffs, you can read the filing here.

It states that the layoffs will be permanent and that they will start in the next two weeks.  The layoffs are due to overlap between the two companies, and most of the employees affected have known about them for quite some time.

First Merit officials were sure to reinforce that these layoffs do not reflect their commitment to Flint.
