The idiot of the day has to be given to the drunk Canadian man who swam across the Detroit River causing a international incident.  Only eight beers were able to give him enough courage to make it across.

John Morrillo, 47 years-old, took to the media to apologize for his stupid stunt that got Canada and America coming after him.  Morrillo dived into the river to prove to his drunk friends that he could make it across.  After getting out of sign of his friends, that called the police to save him.  What friends they are, didn't even believe him.

Coast Guards from the U.S. and Canada hit the waters to save the drunk fish-man.  With three boats and a helicopter, intoxicated Morrillo was found swimming back to Canada around one in the morning on the Canada side of the river.  The drunk Canadian was ultimately charged with public intoxication, fined $5000, and banned from waterfront city properties.

After being released from jail, Morrillo told Windsor Star that he wants credit for his stupid actions.

If I’m going to be in the paper, I’d at least like them to say I actually made it, even though I got in trouble and everything. I gotta pay fines and stuff. But I don’t want it to sound like I didn’t make it, because then my buddies are going to say 'ha, ha, you didn’t make it.' Because that was the whole thing, to show them I could do it.

I can't tell you how much of an idiot move this was by the Canadian resident.  I really hope his friends help him pay the $5000 fine and never dare him again.  I can not swim so I know for a fact I would never try anything like this in my life.  What is the stupidest challenge you have ever accepted?  Cinnamon challenge?  Leave your response below in the comment section below.
