Michigan State students, and probably professors, are rejoicing as East Lansing has legalized Marijuana use and possession in the city.

The specific ordinance passed 4-1, legalizing marijuana possession of less than one ounce on private property by people over 21.

Does this mean that you can light up while walking down Hagadorn? No.  Don't do that.

Technically the ordinance doesn't even make the restricted possession legal, it just reduces it to a civil infraction with a $25 fee.

Grand Rapids and Lansing have also adopted similar measures.  This isn't the legal use of Marijuana that most people are looking for, but it is another step forward.
