Hopes of Flint returning to Detroit for its water have diminished after a ruling from a federal court judge on Tuesday. The Detroit News says that Federal Judge Stephen Murphy turned down a request to order Flint to resume drawing water from the Detroit system. Murphy said the arguments made by the group Coalition for Clean Water were "completely undeveloped." Murphy added he couldn't determine the group's legal theory or whether he even had power to intervene.

Flint cut ties with the City of Detroit for its water source last year after deciding to hook up to the Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline. The city returned to the Flint River as its source of water but have had complaints of smell, taste and appearance since.
