This has been a miserable year for Detroit Tigers fans, but I'm going to scrape together five reasons why you should go to the last home stand of the year.

Sure, the Tigers have traded away most of their big name players.

Yes, they have no chance of salvaging the season, and probably haven't since late July.

There are plenty of bad things to focus on with Detroit this year, but let's take a minute and lay out why you should visit Comerica Park.

1. NEW FACES

The Tigers have traded away most of their household names, so now is the best time to get to know the new Tigers. Players like Mahtook, Candelario, and Machado might become your new favorite Tiger!

The worst case scenario is that you go to a game and only know one or two of the players. Then you can just treat it like you're at a minor league game, inside a major league park.

2. OLD FACES

Even though the Tigers roster is full of guys you've never heard of, there are still a few Tiger favorites playing. Cabrera, Kinsler, and Fulmer are still part of the team . . . but with the way things have gone lately, who knows how much longer they'll be there.  Your best bet is to go see them play now, before then end up on the bad side of some lopsided trade.

3. STAR WARS

Tigers management was smart to hold Star Wars night closer to the end of the season. It's almost like guaranteeing a sell out, despite how bad the team is. Comerica Park will be filled with light saber wielding fans, and people trying to use a Jedi Mind Trick on the beer guy. Tickets are still available for Star Wars Night at Comerica Park on September 16th.

4. FAN APPRECIATION WEEKEND + A BRAND NEW CAR

The last home series weekend is Fan Appreciation Weekend at Comerica Park, and pardon my saying, but those of us that still call ourselves 'Tigers Fans' deserve some appreciation.  There are plenty of great promotions going on during the weekend including signed game uniforms, and a BRAND NEW CAR! Get all of the information about Fan appreciation weekend here.

5. PLENTY OF GOOD SEATS AVAILABLE

The last few weekend games that the Tigers have should still draw a decent crowd, but the weekday games are an entirely different story.  If you're looking for a post apocalyptic feel with your baseball, then go to the game on Wednesday the 20th.  The Tigers host the A's at 1pm. The added promotion is that it's Career Day.  So they'll have job lectures before the game . . . kind of like going to a boring seminar in the middle of a baseball game. As good of an idea as it was to leave Star Wars and Fan Appreciation nights for the end of the season, this is just as bad.

BONUS REASON: YOU WERE A TIGERS FAN BEFORE IT WAS COOL

Part of liking any team when they are bad, is the joy of telling everyone that you liked them before they became good. Any of my older Tiger fans out there remember the Bobby Higginson days, and know exactly what I'm talking about.

If you can make it through the tough times now, it will all pay off in the end . . . or at least that's what the people who watched them win in 1984 tell me.

The Tigers do have some great promotions planned for the rest of the season. You can check out all the promotions and ticket packages here.
