Blight is a problem in Flint, but instead of waiting for the federal money to tear the houses down, a Flint Church has teamed up with a Flint artist to help the problem.

Our Savior Lutheran Church and Sandra Branch are working to turn the boarded up eye sores into works of art.

Branch and her students paint murals on sheets of plywood, and then the church members attach the murals to the boarded up homes.

According to ABC12, they've covered around 40 homes so far, with a lofty goal of 250 homes.

Eventually all of these blighted, abandoned homes will be torn down thanks to federal money, but in the meantime this helps to brighten up the neighborhoods that need it the most.
