Flint has a new expansion team in the New Era Basketball Association (NEBA), and from what we've checked out, the Vehicle City Royals are yet another thing for our area to be proud to support!

We had a chance to check our team out at their latest home game last night at Carman Ainsworth High School. They went up against Detroit's Coast to Coast All Stars, with the game resulting in a 77 - 57 win for Flint! The team is lead by former Flint Monarchs coach Bill Schnorenberg, and consists of alumni from our area. Check out a few highlights from the June 5th showing.

We spoke with Coach Schnorenberg, and he said "I think it is always good to have athletes from our city who have gone away for school but come back and want to give back. So much has been made with the issue of the water. What we want to do as a team is give families a way to see great basketball, at a high level, with players they know. All we ask is come out and support us and once you see what we have to offer tell friends and family. Our team will always be professional and enjoy meeting everyone after games."

We were also able to capture a few highlights from the game. The Royals played hard throughout the entire game, even considering the fact that they had a 24-point lead at the half. It was impressive that they still put on a quality performance, instead of taking advantage of their lead.

Halftime also included a special performance from Flint Kappa League and the Hasslebring Hustlers (below), a group of dance performers all 60 and older, who brought it like "age ain't nothing but a number"!

Many of their upcoming games are out of town, but there is another home game set for July 16th. Get more details at their website.
