In a letter to Flint City Council, Emergency Manager Jerry Ambrose re-established the salaries for the mayor and council members. Ambrose says the move is being made as the mayor and council take on more responsibilities as the city continues on its path toward transitioning back to local control.

Ambrose also laid out his top priorities for the city which include developing a long range financial plan, continuing to focus on water issues, and stabilizing the resources for public safety.

Other items of note in the letter from Ambrose:

  • He praised the city council for giving him the okay to ask the State Emergency Loan Board for $7 million which would then be used to wipe out the deficit.
  • Approving consolidation of the 67th and 68th District Courts would reduce city expenses by $8.4 million over the next ten years and provide stability in funding other public safety services.
