Claressa Shields is coming back to Flint after making Olympic history for the United States, and the city has a gold medal celebration planned for her.
Shields will be arriving at Bishop Airport today (Tuesday August, 23rd) at 4:15pm. According to WNEM, she'll enter the terminal at the far west ticket counter, and that's where people can take pictures and get autographs. Powerade will host a press conference at Bishop for Shields.
There's a private celebration planned for Shields after her public welcome at Bishop Airport. This will be a chance for Claressa to celebrate with friends and family.
Thursday, August 25th, there is a huge public celebration planned for Shields at the Dort Federal Event Center.
Doors will open at 6pm, and the event is completely free to the public. Fans are encouraged to bring notes, letters, or cards to the event. There will be boxes in the lobby marked ,'Cards For Claressa' that you can put them in.
The celebration for Claressa when she returned home from London in 2012 was packed, so we suggest getting to the events early.
