The Flint man allegedly held the victim at gunpoint and bound and gagged him over an outstanding drug debt.

Flint Township police are investigating a kidnapping that happened at Flint Heights Terrace off of Miller Road on Friday night. According to reports police responded on the scene at 10:47 pm on Friday, March 31st and discovered a 58-year-old man had been kidnapped. The man stated he was abducted because he owed drug money.

Police found the man in the basement of a vacant home in Flint where he had been kidnapped and tied to a chair. The man was taken to an area hospital and he is in good condition.

28-year-old James Elbert was arrested and charged with kidnapping, felony assault, carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and extortion.

According to the Genesee County District Court Records Elbert has not been arraigned for the charges.
