The defending champion Flint Monarchs kicked off their 2018 season with a win this weekend.

The Monarchs are looking for another big season this year and the move to the Dort Federal Event Center will help bring a little more shine to the champs. The Monarchs won the Global Women's Basketball championship last season, and expect another run at the trophy this year.

The Monarchs first game was in Illinois this weekend, and they picked up a big win over the Warriors 89-61.

The Monarchs are beyond excited about their move to The DFCU Event Center this season, and their home opener is this Saturday against the Milwaukee Aces. Tipoff is at 4pm and tickets are on sale now for $10. (Buy tickets here)

The Monarchs will play three home games in July on the 7th, 20th and 21st. Their final home game is on August 4th, and you can see the entire schedule here.

The best part about the Monarchs is that they feature six Flint natives on the roster. The women are ready to show all of Flint how good the team is, and bring another winning tradition to Flint.
