Unfortunately Flint Schools cutting jobs and closing schools has been a very familiar headline lately, and tonight they will decide if more cuts and closings will take place.

The 200 jobs on the line are not teaching jobs, they are mostly district employees.  Considering Flint Schools just laid off 90 teachers a couple of weeks ago, it would be hard to believe that there are any more teaching positions to cut.

Northern Alternative is the school at the center of the closing talks.  This would be a huge blow to the district according to Northern employees and parents.  Since Northern High school closed, the Alternative school has given students another option for education.

The moves will be decided tonight at a school board meeting tonight dealing with how to reduce the $10 Million dollar deficit.

UPDATE:  The board has decided to cut all 250 non-instructional staff members, but keep Northern Alternative open.  Watch the update below.

We've asked this question before, but what do you think the Flint Schools will look like in 5 years?

Will there be more than one?  Will these cuts help get things back on the right track?
