Flint's Claressa Shields overcame a stomach virus for the championship in Mexico. The female boxing icon is still writing her own story for the history books with another win in the boxing ring.

While in Guadalajara, Mexico, Shields experienced stomach pain from the food she ate in Mexico. The pains caused her to fight two opponents in the ring over the weekend. The 'Beyonce of boxing' beat Brazilian fighter Flavia Figueiredo in the semifinals round with stomach pains.

In the final round, Shields continued not to feeling 100% but leaned on her mental toughness to help her overcome her opponent Canada's Ariane Fortin. According to MLive, Shields said,

"I did good, I kept it simple with nice hard clean shots, stiff jabs and uppercuts," Shields said. "It was a simple match. I felt a lot better than my first match but not all the way like myself."

We're yet again proud of Shields and her accomplishments in the ring. She has become a role model to so many young women across the globe. Flint, we have to keep showing her love. She has an impeccable record in the ring.
