The search for former Grand Valley State University QB Cullen Finnerty came to a tragic end Tuesday.  His body was found after he had been reported missing from a fishing trip on the Baldwin river.

Finnerty's family became worried when he didn't return from the fishing trip and had expressed concern that the 30-year-old may have suffered "a mental episode" before going missing Sunday.

Finnerty had earned legendary status at GVSU leading the Lakers to three Division II National titles.  He was 51-4 as a starter for GVSU and is survived by his wife and two small children.

There were no signs of foul play when Finnerty was found by the massive search party, consisting of more than 100 GVSU alumni.  As an SVSU alumni, I have watched Finnerty torch my Cardinals numerous times.  He was an amazing talent, and will be remembered fondly by his family, friends and college football fans everywhere.
