French Montana and Kodak Black had a huge smash this year in the form of their collab "Lockjaw," the track landing on XXL's 50 best hip-hop songs of 2016 list. The song was just certified gold by the RIAA earlier this month, and continues to prove its staying power with a new remix this week. Rick Ross and Jeezy lend verses to the track. A "Lockjaw" remix featuring Gucci Mane had surfaced this summer, but based on the above description, it would appear this is the official Clue Radio Remix, DJ Khaled supplying an intro as well.

The new verses give some insight into the time in which they were recorded, Jeezy rapping, "You rappers on that rap shit, know it's rich before that/That Draco in the drop top, screamin' free Kodak." Kodak was just released from jail at the top of the month, so it would appear this remix has been lying dormant for at least a few weeks.

Rick Ross meanwhile boasts about the elbows he's been rubbing. "Ay, I'm at awards, all the homies seats nice/Lady Gaga seen a boss, didn't even think twice," he raps. Ross and Gaga have been on wax together, when in 2013, Rozay jumped on the remix to Gaga and R. Kelly's tune "Do What You Want."

The true resonance of "Lockjaw" stems from its hook though, something Kodak says French was having trouble writing. “The beat came on, and [French] was trying to figure out the hook to it,” Kodak said at the time. “He was in the booth trying to go off the head with a melody to try and come up with something. I didn’t even really like how he was coming with it. I came up with something better in my head. So I told him to record me.”
