The hardest working man in hip-hop is all set to take the stage at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. On Monday afternoon, MTV used Twitter to announce that Future Hendrix will be performing at the annual award show on Sunday (Aug. 28). This will be his first time performing at the VMAs.

For Future, this development is just another step in a journey toward pop culture ubiquity. Last summer, the Dirty Sprite 2 rapper collaborated with Drake for What a Time to Be Alive, and it wasn't too long before that went gold. In the months after the release of WATTBA, Future dropped Purple Reign and Evol, both of which earned plenty of airplay.

In July, Future began touring with Drake for the rapper's Summer Sixteen Tour, which is set to end in October. With all of his touring and his musical prolificacy, it's hard not to wonder if Future ever feels like he'll burn out. He revealed the shocking extent of his commitment to music in a recent interview with MTV.

“I been going to the studio everyday for the last five years," the "March Madness" performer explained. "People like ‘Why you work so hard why you always in the studio? Why you work more than anybody?’ Because I know I’m going to be worth more than them at the end of the day,” he continued. “I might not be there now, but once my work catch up to my worth, I’m gonna be a billionaire.”

Tune in to MTV on Sunday at 9 p.m. for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
