The May 7th ballot in Genesee County will leave residents with a lot of decisions to make regarding their tax dollars.

There are five different millage requests on the ballot and a special election to fill the vacant 27th District Senate seat.

The headlines other than the many issues on the ballot are all concerning how low the voter turnout is expected to be.  Absentee ballots are about half of what they normally are, and most people are predicting only 12% of voters to actually vote.

Other than filling the 27th District Senate seat, the following millage's are also on the ballot.

  • Mt Morris Township Millage increases for the Police and Fire Department
  • Atlas Township Millage increase for the Police Department
  • Carman-Ainsworth School Millage increase for 10 years of funding
  • Beecher School District increases for 2 elementary school upgrades & athletic facilities

Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm today.
